LADOGA - Miss Bess Allen, 80, is a patient in Golden Isle Hospital, Hollywood, Fla., where she is being treated for a double fracture of the hip. She was injured July 5 in a fall at her home. Miss Allen said she was awakened early in the morning by what she thought was fire on her front porch, and fell while investigating. It was later discovered that fireworks had been thrown from a passing car. She and her brother, Donald Allen, formerly lived in the Ladoga and Roachdale communities. Miss Allen is a sister-in- law of Arlie Bymaster of Ladoga. Her room number at the Florida hospital is 208.  -- jlr

Roachdale - Miss Bess Allen, 85, a native of Roachdale died at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Washington Manor Nursing Home at Hollywood, Fla. Miss Allen was a social disaster worker for the American Red Cross for 40 years. Surviving are a brother, Donald Allen of Hollywood, Fla; two nieces, Mrs. Harold Bullock of Hollywood, Fla and Mrs. Ganelle Loveless of Lebanon and a brother-in-law, Arlie Bymster of near Ladoga. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Perkins Funeral Home here, with Rev Herbert J. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Friday. -- kbz
